market first EV-DOOH network in Germany
The cooperation between fast-charging infrastructure provider Numbat and DOOH marketer Goldbach creates new digital advertising spaces with the integrated 75-inch screens.
Cleantech company Numbat focuses on new technologies and operates a unique combination of High-Power Charger for EVs (Electric Vehicles) and sustainable battery storage. What makes Numbat unique is that it can be installed anywhere, anytime, without grid problems or huge construction costs that are usually incurred when expanding fast-charging infrastructure. For Goldbach, in addition to the two integrated 75-inch screens, the sustainable aspect of the battery storage is also relevant. With this, Goldbach gains access to one of the most sustainable advertising media in the DOOH sector and, as a national marketer, will include the screens in its portfolio in the future. The cooperation represents a big step towards the future of the German DOOH market. In a sustainable and rapidly growing e-mobility era, fast-charging pillars will become relevant advertising media and thus also open up new areas such as supermarket parking lots, which were previously rather difficult to access.
In practical terms, the collaboration means the national marketing of more than 600 systems with two screens each in the first step in 2023. Due to the increasing number of e-cars on German roads and the associated high demand for “Numbats”, the number of fast-charging infrastructures will rise sharply in the coming years. Food retailers in particular will benefit from this development, as fast charging of e-cars alongside shopping is uncomplicated and easy to integrate into everyday life. The cleantech company Numbat has already announced that it will equip supermarket chains such as Feneberg and tegut… with fast-charging infrastructure throughout Germany.
The roll-out of the first systems will begin as early as the end of 2022 / beginning of 2023. Numbat’s goal is a nationwide expansion in the DACH region and subsequently throughout Europe. In addition to a network of fast-charging infrastructure, this will also create a network of new DOOH advertising spaces.
“With Goldbach as a professional in the field of DOOH at our side, we can open up new markets together. The topic of digital outdoor advertising reaches a whole new level with our fast-charging infrastructure and screens in Germany. We are looking forward to working with the experienced company and are convinced of the resulting synergy effect,” says Martin Schall, Co-Founder/Managing Director of Numbat.
Claudia Zayer, Managing Director of Goldbach DOOH GmbH, adds: “Installing digital advertising media in fast charging stations is the right step in the emerging e-mobility age. The installations are sustainable and add value in the context of building the urgently needed infrastructure. I’m very pleased about the collaboration with Numbat, which brings our customers new opportunities for targeting.”
The cleantech startup Numbat combines three worlds with its patented technology: A High-Power Charger (HPC) for the trendy topic of e-mobility, an integrated battery storage for energy management solutions, and all this with an environmentally friendly approach to contribute to the energy transition, especially with the patented multi-lifecycle concept. The founders are Dr.-Ing. Maximilian Wegener and Martin Schall, both long-time managers in battery technology. The company is based in Kempten (Allgäu).
